Meet M.C. Reyes
Marielys Camacho-Reyes, MS, (an Army Veteran, and a retired Army Wife), is the founder of the Compassionate Hearts UNITED Foundation, Inc.
Marielys' recent book Cleaning Out My Closet: My Road from Self-Discovery to Emotional Healing is currently available in Amazon.
Marielys holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology, a BA in Criminal Justice, and a Post-Graduate Journalism Certificate with the Michigan State University School of Journalism.
Marielys was selected as the "2019 Veteran of the Year" for the City of Haines City for her support and dedication to her community.
She currently lives in Haines City, FL with her family.
Meet Aida Betancourt

Aida Betancourt, is an Army Veteran, an Independent Writer, and an empowering transformational life and health coach.
Aida holds a Masters in Management of Information Services from University of Phoenix and a BA in Psychology from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. She also has certifications in Photography from New York Institute of Photography and is a Toastmaster Competent Communicator. She recently launched her new website http://www.aidabetancourt.com/
Aida resides in Central Florida with her family.
Meet Melody Morales
Assistant Editor for e-Gazette
Melody, born in Manati, Puerto Rico, traveled the world for almost 18 years alongside her two military parents and siblings. Throughout this time, she was able to see and experience many different parts of the world, some of these being Zimbabwe, Colombia, El Salvador, Bolivia, and Panama. Understanding the diverse cultures, as well as, becoming a part of them was a factor that really impacted her upbringing and shaped her into the person she is today.
Upon returning to the United States, and in only 3 years, Melody obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Management from The University of Tampa. Melody is currently the Operations Manager at EEC Solutions.
Meet Lydia Merete
Social Media and Fundraising Coordinator (Intern)
Lydia Merete, born in Virginia, is now a freshman at the University of Central Florida and is majoring in Business Marketing.
Both of Lydia’s parents are originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Coming to the U.S. when they were teenagers, their culture is still very prominent in their lives. Growing up in a bilingual home, Lydia was blessed to experience the best of both worlds with two cultures to embrace. Having these cultural experiences has shaped Lydia into the person she is now.
Lydia is a big advocate for diversity and inclusion, and has always been passionate about philanthropy and helping others. She hopes to graduate and become a sports attorney, while also making it a point to give back to her community and others in need.
Meet Nasif Ahamed
Contributing Cartoonist for e-Gazette
Nasif Ahmed became The Northeast Polk Gazette's cartoonist the moment the newspaper started. He is a Bangladeshi cartoonist who is also a staff artist at the Daily Janakantha. His cartoons have been published in many international cartoon magazines such as Toonsmag, Mercusuar, United Sketch, among others.
Nasif has been drawing cartoons for dailies for more than seven years. Before starting his career as a full-time cartoonist, Nasif worked almost two years as a freelance cartoonist in the monthly satire magazine Unmad and Daily Alokito Bangladesh. Nowadays, Nasif works for Unmad Magazine occasionally.
Nasif was recently selected as one of the exhibitors on the 1st International Hithi Cartoon Contest, 2019 in Ferizaj, Kosovo, on the 1st International Welt Heimat Cartoon Contests Exhibition in 2019, and on the 2nd Cebu Lampoon Festival Cartoon Exhibition in 2019.

Meet Edwin Camacho-Alcazar

Edwin, born in Manati, Puerto Rico is our new Operations Representative for the Region of Puerto Rico. He comes to us with vast experience in the logistic area. He is joining us in hopes of furthering our charity program, by strengthening the relationship between our organization and the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.
